Are you a fan of Indian cuisine? Well, the popular spice and anti-inflammatory ingredient curcumin, contained in turmeric, has been demonstrated in studies to vastly improve type 2 diabetes and it’s associated symptoms.

The science on curcumin is that the spice associated with curry that has demonstrated in studies that it can improve diabetic complications by helping to regulate blood sugar.

The systematic analysis was published in the peer-reviewed journal, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine. It focused on curcumin and its potential use in the treatment of diabetes and its associated disorders. The publication determined that curcumin could impact positively affect insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, islet apoptosis and necrosis, or organ failure. In addition, curcumin was believed to show the capacity to prevent some of the injurious complications that are associated with diabetes.




 

Get this. Turmeric is an exceptionally efficient pain reliever. In one study that focused on patients with knee osteoarthritis, there was no comparable difference in pain between patients who took ibuprofen and patients opting for supplements instead. Even better, unlike other pain medicines, turmeric is non-toxic, non-addictive, and has no significant side effects.

Turmeric is also regarded as a powerful antioxidant, helping eliminate free radicals from the body that are known to cause cancer and other serious medical conditions. And not unlike honey, turmeric is an effective anti-bacterial that can help make acne disappear when used on the skin.

More Research Is Needed

Despite the potential benefits of curcumin, studies focusing on the spice are limited and there is a need for more human tests to determine the potential of curcumin.

But until more tests confirm the healing power of turmeric, there is no harm in adding the spice to your spice rack. You’ll be glad that you did. It will help put your diabetes on the run!
