2 Delicious Smoothie Recipes that Are Diabetic-Friendly

Whoever said that diabetics can’t enjoy a good, cold glass of delicious smoothie is obviously lying. Of course, you can still enjoy a tall glass of this scrumptious drink. You just have to know what needs to go into your smoothie so it’s not only healthy but sweet (without the guilt) as well.

Below are two easy-to-make and guilt-free smoothie recipes that are diabetic-friendly.

#1 – Superfood Smoothie

To make this smoothie, you will need 1/3 cup of almond milk (preferably unsweetened), a small container of berry yogurt, berries (half a cup of blueberries and 1/3 cup of strawberries, preferably organic), 1/2 cup avocado, a teaspoon of flaxseed, a teaspoon of chia seeds, 1/2 cup of spinach, and a scoop your favorite protein powder. You will also need about four ice cubes.

Place everything in a blender, put its lid on, and blend until the consistency is smooth. You can also add some pieces of fruits on top of the smoothie.

#2 – Berry Green Smoothie

If you want a more savory taste for your smoothie, you can also try the Berry Green Smoothie. It has more veggies than fruits. You will need about a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds (soaked) and a cup each of kale and spinach. To sweeten the smoothie, you can add one medium-sized banana and about half a cup of blueberries.

Again, place everything in your blender, add a little water, drop in about four ice cubes, put the lid on, and blend away till you achieve a smooth consistency.

Here are diabetic-friendly smoothies that you can enjoy, too. You can even try different varieties of fruits and vegetables for your smoothie. For example, spinach, apple juice, almond milk, berries, and banana smoothie; or kale, cucumber, and celery with avocado, lemon, banana, pineapples, peach, berries, and mango as sweeteners. These fruits and veggies, especially berries, can help reduce the risks of Type 2 diabetes.
