Green smoothies are still all the rage. They are packed with nutrients and fiber. They are easy to make. And even easier to consume.
But sometimes, and I’m being totally honest, they are horrendous. Sometimes there are things like broccoli and cabbage that just make green smoothies the stuff of horror stories.
And sometimes they are so high in sugar that they are bad for you instead of good (oh, the irony!).

Instead of avoiding these nutrient-packed goodies for fear of inducing nausea or elevated glucose, try out one of these five recipes instead.
1. Cherry Almond Cinnamon Green Smoothie
This smoothie has two whole cups of fresh spinach, though you can hardly taste it. The cinnamon is key in the ingredient list as it helps regulate blood sugar. The almond butter provides long-lasting protein and healthy fats, and the cherries offer a lowkey sweetness that makes it seem indulgent. But it isn’t.
2. Snickerdoodle Green Smoothie
With a name like that, how can you resist? Once again, cinnamon is the shining ingredient here. It offers some glucose stabilization and depth of flavor. The banana naturally sweetens each sip, and the avocado provides a healthy dose of fiber. Oh, and there’s spinach.
3. Mango Coconut Green Smoothie
Mango is my favorite fruit of all time, so naturally, I had to include a recipe that showcased its tropical flavors. This isn’t a selfish endeavor, though. Mango helps regulate blood glucose levels a lot like cinnamon, so it makes sense to add it to your green smoothie. The healthy fats in coconut also provide lasting support to your brain and heart, both of which get a bit of abuse with diabetes. Give it a try, you will love it!
4. Green Detox Smoothie
Everyone is looking for a good detox, and this smoothie is a delicious way to do it. Pineapple hides any hint of there being greens in the smoothie, so you’re bound to enjoy it. Just try to drink it right away, though, as the acid in pineapple breaks down the greens pretty quickly.
5. Green Warrior Protein Smoothie
I saved this one for last because it’s, uh, intense. But still so delicious. It is packed with goodies, giving it tons of vitamin C, fiber, and natural protein. If you’re looking for a green smoothie that all the health foodies drink, this is it.
