A More Dangerous Carbohydrate Than Sugar

While it’s well-known that sugar isn’t beneficial for our health, there’s another carbohydrate that’s even more inflammatory and hazardous. This carbohydrate, often promoted as healthy by some health professionals, is actually more damaging than processed sugars.

The Culprit: Wheat

The carbohydrate in question is wheat and wheat flour. According to Dr. William Davis, wheat spikes blood sugar similarly to a can of soda or a Snickers bar. The average American consumes about 135 pounds of this carbohydrate annually.

The Role of Glyphosate

A major factor contributing to wheat’s inflammatory nature is its contamination with glyphosate, a pesticide that depletes essential minerals and vitamins, leading to “leaky gut” syndrome.

Understanding Leaky Gut

Leaky gut involves the weakening of the digestive system’s mucosal barrier, allowing undigested food particles to enter the bloodstream and trigger immune reactions. This can contribute to over 100 autoimmune diseases.

Impact on Mitochondria

Glyphosate affects the mitochondria, the energy producers in our cells. This depletion of high-quality minerals due to glyphosate reduces energy production, causing fatigue and contributing to metabolic disorders.

The Problem with Dwarf Wheat

The United States primarily uses dwarf wheat, which has been genetically altered, negatively affecting metabolic health and increasing risks of conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Disruption of the Shikimate Pathway

Glyphosate disrupts the shikimate pathway, important for gut bacteria. Its interference can lead to gut dysbiosis and is linked to conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Key Mineral Chelation

Glyphosate chelates essential minerals, making them less bioavailable for critical body functions, potentially leading to deficiencies in magnesium, zinc, and iron, which are crucial for immune function and energy metabolism.

Hormonal Disruption

Endocrine disruptors, including glyphosate, can mimic or block hormones, particularly estrogen, leading to reproductive and developmental issues, as well as conditions like obesity and diabetes.

Healthier Alternatives

It’s advised to avoid wheat products and instead opt for alternatives like almond flour, coconut flour, or tapioca flour. Gluten-free products should be carefully selected to avoid added sugars and unhealthy oils.
